Travel Makeup

**Reading time: 3 minutes**

I’m definitely not the kind of person that travels every other week to a new city but since I’ve moved out I’ve been reaching for my suitcase more than ever. In my last post (if you’ve not read it yet and want to check it out, click here → LDN → MCR) I mentioned that I’m off to Rome in a couple of weeks which means it’s time to grab my suitcase once again.

I absolutely hate packing. I hate it. I hate it. I hate it. I always struggle to pack appropriately for the weather as I can’t tell the difference between what’s ‘shorts weather’ or ‘jeans weather’. The stress of packing gets too much that I eventually give up and when I’m on holiday I find that I have ZERO outfits, just loads of random pieces of clothes. So, this is not a ‘What’s In My Suitcase’ post.

The thing I do like about going on holiday is choosing what makeup I’m taking with me. I use this as an opportunity to try out new products I’ve got and also to clear out any that I haven’t used/don’t like/don’t use. With my upcoming holiday I thought this post would be ideal.

My favourite primer right now is the Pür Correcting Primer. It smooths out all skin texture and leaves a natural glow which is perfect under foundation or on it’s own. The primer contains AHA which makes the skin sensitive to sunburn so I pair it with the Mac Prep+Prime SPF30 Lotion.

Too Faced eyeshadows are pretty hit-and-miss for me as some palettes I love and others I find the shadows to be very chalky and hard to blend. I swear by the Peanut Butter and Honey palette as the colours are beautiful and it’s small and easy to take on the go so it’s perfect for when I’m travelling.

It’s meant to be between 26 and 28 degrees celsius in Rome when I go so I need to make sure my makeup stays all day. When I go on hot holidays I tend to swap out my powder bronzer for a liquid/stick formula as I feel it lasts longer. I’ve heard so many good things about the Benefit Hoola Quickie Contour Stick so I’m so excited to try it out.

Another Benefit newbie that I’m talking on holiday with me. I’ve used the Benefit BAD gal Bang Mascara twice and I’m SO obsessed with it so it’s definitely in my makeup bag for Rome.

The aeroplane air-con dries my skin out so badly so Glossier’s Birthday Balm Dotcom is my must-have for any flight. I’m also obsessed with pairing it with my Fenty Beauty Mattemoiselle in shade Up 2 No Good. The slight shimmer from the Birthday Balm looks so pretty with the Fenty lipstick and has SPF so it’s perfect for the hot weather.

The babes at Unicorn Cosmetics sent me a beautiful PR box last week (blog post to follow…👀) and the Peachy Pie Vegan Unicorn Lashes were one of the products they sent me. I’ve only tried them on once and they’re so lightweight and look beautiful and natural. Because Rome is going to be so hot I need lashes that are going to stick all day and Unicorn Cosmetics are known for long-wearing lashes so these are definitely the pair I’m bringing.

Saving the best for last…. This might just be the prettiest highlighter I’ve ever seen. I’ve only swatched it and it was beautiful. I love highlighting my collarbones when I go on holiday as it really brings out a shimmery tan so I can’t wait to see how the Fenty glow looks.

It’s only a week until my out-of-office is on and I’m in a plane yet I’m so unprepared. At least my makeup bag is sorted though, right? ✈️
